"Creating art is just one way for many to enjoy creation, to be so inspired by what's around them. I'm local to Saint Johns county and have been involved in a few ways with the St Augustine Art Association. I love mixed media, and to use any resource around me for paints and canvases which creates a variety, for me it ranges from oil paint to pressed leaves and flowers. I teach art (to children) but also love to be a student, I am young and still ever expanding (like us all). Up to this point I am self taught and inspired by others."

Lyn Asselta

"Pastel, as a medium, is immediate. I can pick up a color and draw exactly what is in my mind at the moment. The combination of the softness of pastel and their ultimate permanence is very appealing to me. I find pastel to be absolutely perfect for conveying the timeless quality of landscapes that are mystifyingly beautiful. From the rocky coast of Maine to the beaches and colorful coastal marshes of Florida and the Southeast, to the ever-changing scenery of the Smoky Mountains of the Carolinas, I have been fortunate to have spent the better part of my life living in the midst of landscapes that never fail to inspire something deep down inside me."

Elaine Conners

Elaine Conners

"Looked at closely, the simplest things and ordinary objects in nature reveal an innocence and complexity which I believe mirrors all of life. In selecting images and objects for my compositions, I find that abstraction affords me the freedom to convey essential feelings and impressions without conceptual interference or the lengthy translation of personal interpretation."

Fran Windeler

Born and raised on the rugged New England coast, Fran's fascination and respect for the ocean were pre-destined. From the coast of Portugal to New England her family has strong ties to the sea. While pursuing her degree in fine arts from Southeastern Massachusetts University, she generated an income from commissioned portraits domestically and abroad.

Fran put her passion for art on hold while raising her family and pursuing a career in corporate banking. She always maintained her contact with the water while choosing professional advancement opportunities. From a lake home in Ohio to a high rise on Lake Michigan to the coast of Florida, Fran maintained contact with the waterfront community. She achieved her goal of returning to her art career and now incorporates her artistic background into the interaction of people, water and coastal wildlife. Her interpretation of this relationship is now the identity of Vilano Beach Florida and has become popular with collectors in the region.

Kelly Crabtree

"I’m Kelly Crabtree, an artist / illustrator from Anthony, FL. I recently graduated Flagler College witha BA in fine art and a minor in illustration. Art can be described as freedom from reality and the confines of the world. I use art as a ticket into a world of vibrant colors and unrestricted imagination. As an artist, my favorite way to explore the art world is through a verity of mediums and combinations of oil painting, wood carving, ink illustrations, and pen/ marker drawings. I love to use splashes of bright colors to create detail in unexpected places."

RoAnn Elias

I have always been an artist. My original style grew out of wide scope of artistic influences. So, if you enjoy the impressionist, the abstract, the surreal, you will find much to love in my art works. I work in many different mediums.

Music has always been a large part of my life from singing in chorus as a child to being married to a multi-talented musician/song writer. I love all kinds of music and my taste ranges as wide as my artistic influences. Currently, I am concentrating on a series of acrylic paintings and sculptures that explore the emotions and ideas inspired by some of my favorite songs. I invite you, the viewer, to experience each new work and enjoy the music.

See my work at the PAStA Gallery in St Augustine, Hollingsworth Gallery in Palm Coast and Gallery of Local Art in Flagler Beach.

Marie Groves

Fabulous mosaic work is found throughout the architecture and design of St. Augustine. Looking at the work of contemporary artists gave me the inspiration to learn this craft for myself. Each of my pieces presents a unique challenge as far as design and execution." Groves is a fan of bugs, reptiles, sea life, and plants, and her subjects tend toward nature. The addition of shells, mirror, brass, and beads adds interest to each piece as well as presenting a challenge to this self-taught artist.

Mary Hubley

Mary Hubley's oil paintings are of the North Florida salt marshes, sandy beaches, and the people who enjoy them. She connects to the energy of a place and tries to capture the emotional response to it. "Before I ever lay down a brushtroke, I consider what the subject is saying to me. What does it vibrate? Softness? Excitement? What does the air smell like -- lavender meadows or salty breezes? Is it a hot day? Are there deep, cooling shadows? What do I hear -- seagulls or car horns? The answers to these kinds of questions direct the soul of my painting."

Jerry Melfi

Hello. I am Jerry Melfi.   This is a line and wash that I did of Aviles Street here in St. Augustine. After the ink dries for the line work, I apply watercolor washes to complete the painting. I present a loose, relaxed style that reflects the feel of this beautiful city.

Please visit my website and see a few of my paintings that I have recently completed.  I display my artwork  every  Saturday morning at The Old City Farmers Market located at the amphitheater  on Anastasia Island. Times are from 8:30 to 12:30. I hope that you enjoy my art.

Thank you,

Janice Rippon

I'm a Scottish artist living and working in Florida, USA. I use a range of media to create artworks. My Scottish landscapes provide a vehicle to connect with my home and heritage. I use photographs of favorite places as inspiration from a distance. In the light and freedom of Florida I also work in my studio or outside in the sunlight. I can be found in my studio working on pieces with my precious Weimaraner dog, Velvet, at my feet (or the sofa as she likes her comfort). It is a family affair as my husband, Stephen, gets enlisted to pick what paintings make the cut for framing and then it's his turn to get his creative on as he does some of the framing for me. I volunteer at Gabriel House of Care teaching art to organ transplant and cancer patients and their caregivers as part of an integrative and holistic healing program.

Cindy Wilson

I focus on translating the patterns and textures of nature thru batik. Much of the process has to be carefully planned and involves numerous layers of dye and wax. The dyes are transparent, I must work in reverse, beginning with the lightest color. Each color builds onto earlier layers that have not been sealed with wax. Many of my batiks have 20-30 layers of dye. Capturing light and shadow is often exaggerated by the crude tools used to lay down hot wax and are part of the charm in batik images.

I really love the element of surprise at the end when the final darkest dye dip completes the image—often in surprising ways.
